FACTS TO CONSIDER

Let us ask ourselves some questions. Why do the spirits of Mediums prefer a darkened room to a brightly-lit room? Why do spirits appear in the dulled corners of a room? Why is night-time better for spirits than daytime? Does the light drive them away? What did Jesus say about the spirits and the light and the darkness?

Know now that upon so-called death of the physical body, some spirits are so earth earthly that they cling to this earth realm and its earthly way of life. These are the earth-bound spirits with whom most all Mediums communicate. Remember, earth life is Darkness so these earth-bound spirits are still in Darkness.

Yes, the teachings of these spirits from the Psychic and Lower Realms of Darkness are of no more value to us than our human earthly teachings. Sure, they may help us in our earth earthly lives, but they leave us empty of Spiritual Knowledge when we get to the other side. Remember this always: these beings know not the Spiritual Truths, or they would not be in those Realms of Darkness.

Even though Mediums receive thousands upon thousands of communications, and even though some messages from the unseen have at times been imperfect and fragmentary, still they have been messages. But after all the talking, writing, rapping, rattling, scribbling, slate writing, tipping, etc. etc. etc; yes, after all the materializing and dematerializing, mostly all they have told us are the things that we already knew or mostly just wanted confirmed.

If these spirits of the Mediums are true, then since departing this world why haven't they gained great knowledge and become much more intelligent than they were here on earth? After all, haven't they had unlimited access to the people's minds and the media world wide? Alas, maybe these are not the spirits with which we should be concerning ourselves?

Yes, when it comes to Spiritual Knowledge of the Light - this earthly Spiritism is as barren as the Sahara Desert; an empty and hollow ground.

SPIRITS DESIRE TO GRATIFY

For the most part, Mediums desire correct communication and the spirits desire to gratify them so as to influence their thoughts and actions.

Mediums wish spirits to aid them in many ways. Some Mediums even desire the spirits to communicate that which they, the spirits, do not know. Then when the information turns out to be false or misleading, or not entirely correct, they call them "evil" or lying spirits. And then you have those other Mediums who seek only that information which will advance their temporal gain.

However, many spirits are like mischievous children who like to torment those they can, amusing themselves at the expense of others. These mischievous spirits will come unto you as whomever it takes for you to believe them: great leaders, great thinkers, celebrities, scientists, friends, relatives, etc., whomever you wish for communication from the most. These spirits "suck" the knowledge they use to deceive you from your own earthly brain, and then present it back to you in a fashion such that your ego-self believes every word they say. For like all vanity, we like to hear what we like to hear.

Then there are those Mediums, as well as others, who are interested in receiving communications only from the highest spirits, and so they are not satisfied unless the communication originates from Jesus. Yes, some Mediums have their preferences and their particularities. One must have the sanction of Paul, another Luke, a third John, and a fourth Matthew, for only this will satisfy them. So likewise remember that Mediums also desire that which is most agreeable to their minds, and most of the spirits give them exactly what they want.

What most people fail to realize is that Jesus would only answer as the conditions of the inquirer demanded; that Jesus answers to instruct in Wisdom; and that He adapts His measure of Wisdom to the Understanding of His audience. For would it be serviceable to do otherwise?

Yes, even though some spirits set out to do good, they end up causing much harm for the people because they are not ONE with their heavenly Father of Light, who knows what should, and what should not be given to whom - when - and how much.

Do we on earth know what is improper to communicate to one another all the time so that no one becomes injured or hurt by our gossip? Then why do you think that these spirits from the Psychic and Lower Realms are any different? Remember, stepping out of the physical body does not make a spirit All-knowing and Righteous.

Yes, minds in the body are partial to spirits. Some will rely on one, and some on another. Spirits of darkness do not encourage partiality. What one spirit says is almost never contradicted by any other spirit. But the practise which selects one spirit in preference to another is not always wise; the practise is unwise in most cases. Therefore what is unwise we do not wish to encourage. That is why we say, "Seek ye first the Kingdom of your Father through His Light within, and all else shall be added unto you."

One of man's greatest barriers, as promulgated by the churches, is that Jesus and the Apostles, Saints, etc. are the same today as they were 2,000 years ago. And we ask the question: Does not the Law of Progress demand that twenty centuries ought to advance spirits somewhat in the Wisdom of God, especially those who are really seeking? Yes. They have received Wisdom as they have progressed and progressed as they have received Wisdom.

God is not the same today as He was yesterday as He will be tomorrow, for if He were He would have atrophied long since in His own boredom. However, what is true is that God's Love is the same today as it was yesterday as it will be tomorrow!

CAUTION

So far we have talked about Familiar Spirits who speak into the ear of the one in the physical body; of those spirits who have conscious control of the Medium's mentality.

- that this communication between the two minds is but the projection of thought from one individual to another regardless of whether one or both are incarnate.

- that this communication between the two is really just the interaction of a stronger being, in this case a spirit, with a weaker, sensitive being, the Medium.

- that what one seeks, largely determines the nature of what they receive.

- that your own mental and moral states can and do determine the nature of the spirits that you will attract. The Law of "like-attracts-like" functions both on this plane and in the Spirit Realms.

- that if we are of a high moral and mental standard it is quite probable, but not necessarily so, that spirits of a like-nature will manifest in and through our mental vibration.

Yes, it is by the Law of Like-Attracts-Like that much harm is done to the people by their promiscuous and unguided contact with those Psychic or, as we call them, earth-bound spirits. These spirits have failed to learn the Law of Progression and thereby bind themselves here for further schooling on how to work out those earthly conditions, learning to choose good over "evil".

Upon death some spirits are so attached to earth life that they hold themselves here as earth-bound spirits, knowingly and unknowingly, claiming the title "Spirit Guide". Therefore, you must understand that there is no transforming power upon death. The sinner does not become a Saint. You leave this world just as you are, and you enter into the next world just the same as you leave this world. Yes, when a man wakes up in the Spirit World, he is the very same man in every respect as before death except he has no physical body. And it is not to be forgotten that among spirits, as among men, there are false, misleading, and half-learned Beings.

These spirits of darkness delight in making contact with incarnates and usually are not who or what they profess to be. They actually pick out, through telepathy, what the earthly inquirer wants to know. Then they contact the Medium's lower self, the heart or sub-conscious, which is the store house of all present physical experiences and memories. After having done this, it is quite simple to impersonate people known to the inquirer who have passed on.

BEWARE

Just as everything else that has existed has been a subject for money making, so it goes with Mediumship. In the past, as today, charlatanism abounds; practising Mediums use many pretensions to "hoodwink" the willingly deluded public.

Yes, most so-called mediums are frauds, knowingly and unknowingly. They prey upon the ignorance and the gullibility of the public; pure fraud, shear chicanery and trickery. Why? Because the public has an internal desire for such deceptions and just maybe, in one of their past lives, these people were Mediums, and because they did not use their "Gift" properly, they are found in this embodiment lacking the ability, but not the Desire.

We must also understand that "messages" do not always come from the spirit world. They can come from the Medium's own mind or heart, and even from the mind of the sitter. Nine time out of ten, it is the psychological influx of the person or audience which centres itself upon the sensitive organism of the Medium. Yes, the Medium becomes "harmonized" with the majority of the minds present and, in most cases, the exact thoughts of the individual(s) are used and reproduced to sell a desired effect. This deception is, at best, "Mind Reading," and not information from beyond.

Yes, the Medium's visions of the inner worlds are usually obtained through the faculties of those in the room. The words and descriptions of what you want to know are usually drawn out of your own mind and mimicked by the "indwelling" spirit, the Medium. Yes, once they know your Desires and speak with you for a few minutes to "tune-in," the Medium's spirit can read your mind and give you what you want. Of course "practise makes perfect".

Thus if you anticipate or worship what you hear or see in a reading it will continue to manifest as you want it, but if doubt or questioning comes in, the manifestation being presented through the Medium will quickly change. By this you will know what it is that you have been dealing with in its true light. Remember, "evil" will appear as good, if you will only let it. Even Satan comes pretending to be an Angel of Light. Of course he can only manifest himself to you in the spirit world of darkness and claim to be an Angel of Light.

While there is no doubt in many people's minds that some Mediums really do receive messages from spirit beings, there are sincere Mediums who do make contact with the inhabitants of the spirit worlds. We ask, "Are these not mostly seducing spirits? Or lying spirits? Or evil or mischievous spirits?" And we answer: "Yes! Why?" Because misinformation coupled with misinterpretation are the foremost difficulties for a Medium to discern and spirits know it!

Remember, we have provided the information found within this Little Book to inform the uninformed, and not to encourage anyone to seek a Medium or Mediums for any reason whatsoever. However, if you do consult a Medium upon any given subject of worldly matters, the answer you will receive will correspond to your own thoughts (mostly of the last 24 hours), whether your thoughts be correct or otherwise.

And remember this always: Mediums cannot contact just any spirit, because not all spirits have learned the Laws of Communication. Some spirits do not even know that they can communicate, and again, all spirit entities are not able to manifest through the same vibration (Medium). And know now that those incarnate spirits, while incarnate, who have committed suicide, died by violence, or died suddenly by accident almost never are drawn to Mediums.

DANGER

What about the trance state or condition where the one in the body withdraws his spirit from the body and the familiar spirit steps in and uses the organs of that body?

This exercise of Mediumship consists of more or less giving up your self-control. When a Medium has a lax connection between his earth body and his soul similar to the separation that takes place in sleep, a so-called Spirit Guide can then develop these people as trance or materializing Mediums.

When a soul leaves a body by any other method than by natural falling asleep, it is accomplished by invisible anaesthetics used by the door keeper of the Medium's mind just as physical anaesthetics are administered to force the soul out of the body for an operation. These invisible anaesthetics can be administered in various ways to draw the soul from the body.

Is this dangerous? YES! While this may be one of the greatest demonstrations for the proof of immortality by the exchange of souls, it is yet the most dangerous and is not encouraged by anyone who really knows. Anything that takes away your consciousness and robs you of your personality is dangerous. Like hypnotism, each time a spirit enters a Medium, it becomes easier and easier to do so. Then sometimes, after many such contacts, the spirit doesn't want to leave and can stay occupying the body. This is called "Obsession."

Obsession is detected by the fact that the iris neither responds to light nor distance, by contraction and expansion. For truly the eyes are the "windows of the soul" and only the owner can manipulate them. Hence the eyes of Mediums, who are under control, are always closed or have a glossy state.

Yes, Mediums can become victims in the hands of unprogressed, invisible Beings. The type and extent of obsession differs according to the nature of the Beings who exercise the said active influence over the Medium. The effect on the Medium will be proportionate to the strength of the Medium's self control.

Whether a person develops into a trance speaker or into a physical Medium depends upon the brain conformation and the magnetic temperament of the body. The chief concern here is that these forces of Mediumship tend towards the destruction of the individuality, the Medium becoming a slave to those in control, a sort of "slipping" in and out of reality. The destruction of the human will (subjective to spirit intelligences: if we can use those two words together in the same sentence) is the greatest curse of this type of Mediumship. The danger would be minimized if all spirits were trustworthy and of the Light, but they are not!

Earth-bound spirits seek to develop their victims as "trance" Mediums, or as "materializing" Mediums, depending upon how much of an impressionist the earth person is. These type of so-called spirit guides quickly gain control over their Medium much like hypnosis. However, they have an even greater control over the Medium if the Medium "looks-up" to that spirit as a Higher Being, an Angel devoid of evil, and unselfishly aiming to diffuse happiness and wisdom.

These spirits seek to live through the Medium's earthly body, for the earth earthly things are where their Hearts are or they would not be earth-bound. Each time the spirit takes control and leaves, it also takes part of the Medium's vital body, using it as a means to gain a stronger and stronger control over the Medium's ability to block or shut out that spirit. In such cases the spirit eventually steals the body, as aforementioned in the case of Jesus and the spirit named Legion. While these spirits have done some good in proving that life after death is a reality, it has been at the expense of much harm to many Mediums and other people as well.

Yes, there are many different types of trance; none of which are conducive to health or inspires your intellectual status. The Medium relinquishes his physical or intellectual powers to a Being of which he has not the least little bit of information (other than that which the spirit wishes him to know). While the dangers of hypnotism are well understood, even by the hypnotist, the dangers to Mediums are many fold greater, for the dominating influence cannot be seen. REMEMBER THIS: if experience is necessary to judge earthly men, it is even more so to judge spirits. Alas, there is a greater degree of influx from the Spirit World than even Mediums are aware of.

We have never as yet met one Medium who does not think that their Guide, Teacher, or Familiar Spirit is not the essence of perfection and trustworthy. Yet we have sat with many entranced Mediums whose entrancing Guides would warn us not to let their Medium know how many different spirits have spoken to us through him or her, all of which pertained to things of those spirits in the stratas close to earth: lacking Spirituality.

The result of Spiritism is that in the end, as the Medium passes through the gateway of death, or as any one who follows after Spiritism passes through that portal, their "beliefs" die, as once again they realize that the Spirits of Darkness have led them to disappointment, misfortune, sorrow, and in many cases, to some form of insanity.

FAMILIAR SPIRITS

No discourse on Spiritism would be complete without these passages from the Italian Bible or, as most know it, the Holy Bible. And let us keep in mind that of all the thousands of Mediums, none admit that their "Spirit Guide(s)" is anything but good.

Now reading Leviticus 19:31, "Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God." Now, using the Hebrew and Chaldee lexicon, we find that the word which has been translated into English as "wizard" means a conjurer or a ghost. And reading Leviticus 20:6, "And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people." Again looking up the word "whoring" we find that it comes from the Chaldean word "Zenuwth", meaning adultery: referring to idolatry. Thus it follows that the worshipping of these familiar spirits is wrong. Yes, Spiritism has come to worship the demonstration of supernormal phenomena first, and God second or not at all.

Being sure of your conviction that survival after death is a fact, why don't you move on to something higher in your evolution? - move onto Spiritualism!

And we would just like to insert an irrelevant observation here, that the word "liar" is part of the phrase "Familiar Spirit," or does God work in mysterious ways?

Now then, we find in reading Deuteronomy 18:9-12, "When thou art come into the land which the Lord THY God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of these nations. There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord: and because of these abominations the Lord THY God doth drive them out from before thee."

And it came to pass that the Hebrews rewrote these "revelations" from heaven, as they usually did in their attempts to control the people, (which by the way has caused their downfall many times), thus resulting in the Biblical passage of Leviticus 20:27, reading, "A man also a woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death . . . " O' how soon they do forget Exodus 20:13, reading, "THOU SHALT NOT KILL!" O' forgive them Father, for truly these people know not what it is that they do to themselves.

Now to follow this up a little closer, let us turn to 1 Samuel 28:3, reading, ". . . and Saul had put away those that had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land." . . . and then in verse 9 we see that "putting them out of the land" means that Saul had the people murdered. Now let us read Chapters 28 to 31 of 1 Samuel, and see the outcome of Saul's karma. We see that the Spirit who spoke with Saul was not the usual familiar spirit of the Medium, but a Blessed One of Light who was known on earth as Samuel. (Remember: Jesus said, ". . . for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword." - Matthew 26:52).

Reading Acts 13:20, ". . . Samuel the Prophet," it is also interesting to notice how we find the same behaviour of Saul, centuries later when there appears another Saul, putting the followers of Jesus to death. Could this be the final out-working of the karma of Paul's persecution and murdering? Should we be asking, "Why does the so-called Church follow so closely the preachings of Paul, and not so closely the Teachings of Jesus?"

Then in reading Isaiah 8:14-22 we see the prophecy of Jesus and the Disciples in their coming to Israel. And that when they came, those who would seek unto Jesus and the Disciples and those who have familiar spirits would be taught how to seek their God (or Goddess); how to seek the Living God and not the Spirits of Darkness. And reading Ephesians 5:11 we find the statement, "Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them."

Yes, Spiritism is the workings of the spirits of darkness. Strong light, says spiritists, hinders communication with their spirits, thus most practise in a darkened room. Does this fact not tell them, and you, what kinds of spirits they are dealing with? reading John 3:20, "For every one that doeth evil hateth the Light, neither cometh to the Light, lest his deeds shall be reproved."

And we cannot repeat this next Biblical Passage too often, reading 1 John 4:1, "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God (the Light); because many false prophets are gone out into the world." And what is a false prophet? A false prophet today is more commonly known as a Spirit Medium.

The True Prophet is a Prophet of the Light, and gives the same Teachings as can be found in these Little Books.
